My colleague Dr. Daren Graves and I published Schooling for Critical Consciousness in 2020 that reports on our four-year study of engaging young people in analyzing, navigating, and challenging oppressive social forces such as racism. I have also had an opportunity myself to support young people's critical consciousness development through an undergraduate course I teach at Boston College called Social Oppression and Transformation (click on syllabus below).

Below, educators can find links to my mini-lectures from Social Oppression and Transformation on racism, classism, sexism, and heterosexism in the interpersonal, institutional, and ideological domains of power. These recordings come from my first year teaching the course, and I can already see changes and improvements I can (and will) make to all of them. But I'm hopeful they will nonetheless be useful resources for interested educators. You can also find below mini-lectures and text-sets developed by my Boston College students on specific topics related to these different forms of oppression. The goal in sharing these materials is to support the work of K-12 educators committed to nurturing their own students' abilities to analyze, navigate, and challenge oppression.
